What Is "Hymns for Living"

The Hymns use arrangements for congregational singing and are carefully sung in a style faithful to congregational singing.  This includes using the key and style from each of the collection of old hymnals owned by John and Thelma.  To make each performance communicate its meaning, a variety of instrumental accompaniments are included.  Some were written exclusively for this album to include combinations of strings, brass, flute, percussion, piano, guitar, organ, Celtic harp, shuttle pipes, etc., that joyously celebrate the values sung about in these hymns.  They include combinations of vocal accompaniments, including numerous multipart vocal harmonies, virtually all taken exactly from the arrangements of the old hymnals John and Thelma had collected.
